INVITATION
TO PITCH
Project:
Brighton Fringe Video
Date: DATE
Introduction:
Brighton Fringe is the largest arts festival in England and one of the largest
fringe festivals in the world. It sets out to stimulate, educate and entertain
a wide audience by providing a showcase for diverse art forms. Everyone can
take part, in fact, whilst enjoying a friendly and supportive environment. And
all this in an iconic city with unique cultural heritage.
Brighton Fringe takes place every May, and for the second time, it's
going to be a 4-week festival in 2014 (3 May – 1 June) to include the summer
half-term holiday. This vast celebration of all things creative has grown out
of and is inspired by home-grown talent: more than 50% of participants are
based in Brighton & Hove. In 2013, we had 734 individual events, 176 free
events, 3654 performances at 185 venues. To find out more about the 2013
festival, take a look at our Annual Review.
It is also
a completely open-access festival, which means anyone can put on an event and
be included in the festival programme on payment of a fee. By definition,
Brighton Fringe can include any art form. No artistic judgment or selection criteria
are imposed on participants, enabling the development of both new and
established work to attract fresh audiences, press and promoters.
Our Audience:
The core group of the Brighton Fringe
audience is ‘Liberal Opinions’. They
are likely to be young, well-educated
city-dwellers enjoying urban life’s vibrancy and diversity. They demand a
high degree of ethical responsibility from brands.
They like brands that
promote a multi-cultural image.
Over 64% of our audiences are
female with the majority of audiences
falling in to the age range 35-54 years
old.
We have a large family audience, with over 20% of attendees bringing their
children to events.
Our audiences are mainly local, living in the city of
Brighton & Hove. However, we do have a large number of festival attendees
who bring their friends and families to shows from outside the city.
Overview of
deliverables:
To produce a number
of short film projects culminating in one longer film piece. Can include audio,
animation and photography.
The final film
should be delivered in the correct pixel dimensions for use on our website as
well as social media. But the quality should also be high enough for use on
large screens.
The film’s script
will need to be developed in conjunction with your project leader at Brighton Fringe.
The short films will function as teasers
for our audiences and will be used on social media. The longer film will be
used to excite people and ultimately get people booking tickets to Brighton
Fringe 2014.
The videos should
use correct branding and logos throughout, and this will be discussed with your
project leader at Brighton Fringe.
The project should
enable you to get creative which is why we’re allowing photography, audio and
animation to all be used (but only if you want to).
Creative guidance:
You will be
receiving a branding presentation from the Marketing Manager and Marketing
Assistant at Brighton Fringe. All projects MUST include clear and consistent
identity using the correct logo and fonts.
Brighton Fringe
has a very friendly, informal tone of voice. We like to reflect this in any
external communications we put out. We aim to come across as the ‘every man’ and
make ourselves accessible. This should come across in the video.
Look and feel:
We
want the video to be: inclusive, edgy, colourful, exciting, sleek, lively,
vibrant, wacky, funny.
References to other
media we like:
Build a mood board
for inspiration. Include any current designs that could be references and/or
other videos, photographs etc you like.
